Description: The Kurdish diaspora is rapidly expanding. Despite its current state of activity, it remains complex and unorganized. Drawing from the experiences of other diasporas, we recognize that organizing this community can invigorate the Kurdish National Movement with vigor and strength. The Kurdish diaspora comprises valuable human capital, including individuals who migrated for scientific, political, economic, and other purposes. Additionally, multiple generations born in Western countries retain their Kurdistani identity. To harness this potential, we propose organizing diaspora activities. Such efforts can serve dual purposes: strengthening Kurdistan internally and advancing the Kurdistan question on the international stage. Scientific, academic, political, and civil activities are crucial for achieving these goals.
Key steps in organizing the Kurdish diaspora involve mobilizing various elites. These elites span scientific, economic, media, sports, and artistic domains. Establishing national institutions hinges on fostering connections among these elites. Conferences provide an ideal platform for productive dialogue, collaboration, and exchange of ideas. The upcoming conference, scheduled for August 2024 in Germany, marks the inception of this vital project. Initially focused on youth, our long-term vision aims to unite individuals of all ages in national cooperation. Beyond Europe, we envision similar conferences across North America and other regions to strengthen organizational ties.
This year’s conference, titled “Conference of Independent Kurdistani Youth in the Diaspora” will delve into critical themes across four distinct sections:
